Alpine touring gear is not required for this training session. The objective is to practice companion rescue not skin up the mountain.

Note: This practice is not led by a certified instructor and is not a substitute for AST1. Everyone is encouraged to actively participate. Only sign up if you have completed AST1 or better.

The exact location will be determined closer to the date of the session.

The rough agenda is:

1) Review rescue equipment, and proper technique for searching, propping and digging.

2) Split into groups and practice single and multiple burial searches and rescues.

This session will be cancelled is it raining heavily or if the roads to the mountains are hazardous.

Required Items to Bring:
Warm Clothing, Waterproof Hiking Boots (snowshoes or yak trax optional but helpful), Avalanche Transceiver, Shovel, Probe, waterproof clothing, backpack, notebook, snacks and water.

This is not a substitute for your AST1/2 or Companion Rescue Course taught by a CAA Member.
