Itinerary:

Climbing Alpine Select route #64. Bivy at Motel 66.

Day 1: Leave Vancouver, hike in to Motel 66, set camp
Day 2: Climb Matier, return home


Required Items to Bring:

Regular alpine kit for climbing steep snow and
glacier travel
Winter camping gear
Two-way radio
Snowshoes
Avalanche gear (transceiver, shovel, probe)

Notes:

We don't climb in these conditions:

  • forecasted P.O.P. (weat her.gc.ca) exceeds 30% or
  • it is too warm (no overnight freeze) or
  • alpine avalanche danger is not low

These are beyond trip organizer's control - short notice cancellations are quite possible and do occur.

Prerequisites
Climbed with the trip leader in the past.
Received formal mountaineering training.
Climbed at least one Alpine Select route.
