Itinerary:
Avy assessment and terrain navigation + decision-making. Dig pits - if we have time, multiple. Ski/slope cuts - how to. Beacon search practice - yours and others' to get familiar with different beacons. Multi-burial scenario - if we have time, we'll do two. Discussion and brews (optional) at a local establishment Repeat: THIS IS NOT A COURSE! IT DOES NOT IN ANY WAY REPLACE AST1. You should have your AST1 prior to joining.

Required Items to Bring:
avy gear: beacon, shovel, probe spare batteries for beacon "Avaluator" tool touring equipment: ski/splitboard, etc. basically, everything you would bring with you on a day of touring. definitely clothes, food and water for a full day outside. there will be times you will be just standing around to come prepared to brave the elements. course will run in 'not ideal' weather conditions.

any other snow evaluation or avy gear you want to test out - we'll try to make time for that, if there is group interest.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Location will be dependent on weather and AWD/4WD vehicles, as well as distribution of members from Squamish vs. Van. Two good options: Seymour or Paul's Ridge.

Notes:
Please read the full description before signing up. This course is definitely beginner friendly. But you should already have your AST1. No exceptions, as we will be venturing out into the backcountry/slack country, even though we'll be on safe ground. And this is NOT A COURSE. It's a review.
- We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines at all times while participating in ACC VA events.
