Itinerary:

PRIME WEEK, Kokanee Glacier Hut (Lodge) fully catered and guided to have the best experience in this hard to book Hut.

We will helicopter in to the Hut on Saturday February 20 and fly back out the following Saturday, Feb 27.
During our stay we will have one ACMG certified Mountain Guide and one ACMG certified Ski Guide leading the groups on day trips from the Lodge.
Or for those who want to go out for their day of self guided, the guides will help get you set up.
Each evening we will return to the lodge to enjoy a hot shower followed by a delicious meal prepared by the cook.

Click here for more info on the lodge

The Kokanee Glacier Cabin (a lodge really!) is located on the shores of Kaslo lake in Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park, an amazing ski touring / splitboarding paradise.
Located north of Nelson, in southeastern British Columbia’s Selkirk Mountains, beautiful Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park is a year-round recreational paradise.
Sitting mostly above 1,800 metres in elevation, the park has three glaciers – Kokanee, Caribou, and Woodbury – which feed over 30 lakes and are the headwaters of many creeks. As you can expect, this also makes the cabin home to endless skiing terrain with something for almost every level of skier.

The Lodge:

One of the most popular huts in the entire ACC system the Kokanee Glacier Cabin is typically only available via a lottery system! It’s also one of the most well equipped ACC huts as well. It’s more akin to a proper ski touring lodge really with flush toilets, running water and electricity!
In addition we will have a chef organizing our food and preparing our meals, all you have to do is chip in and help with dishes once in a while.

The Guides:

Due to the complex nature of the terrain in the area and the learning opportunities it affords we’re going to be bringing in a couple of ACMG Certified guides from BlackSheep Adventure Sports:

Monte Johnston:
A full-time Skiing, Mountaineering & Climbing Guide, Monte loves to climb and skied everywhere he can and has spent the last 15 years traveling the world chasing this passion. In the summer he can be found guiding anything from remote mountain peaks to warm sun kissed rock across BC and Alberta. In the winter Monte splits his time between heli-skiing in Bella Coola, ski touring out of various lodges in BC and traveling to international ski destinations like Japan, India, Russia and any other cool places he can find some powder.

Dan (the Danimal) Robb:
A ski guide by winter and alpine guide by summer, Dan is truly at home when in the mountains and is always coming up with a new obscure route to investigate. To help pay the bills he spends part of the winter as an avalanche forecaster on some industrial projects along the coast, heli-skiing and of course ski touring all across BC and Alberta.

Note the allowable Heli bag weight is 50 lbs, not 100. This includes your skis, back pack and a small (40 litre duffle or pack) for your other clothes and beverages. The helicopter will bulk out before weight out, meaning use more smaller bags rather than one large bag for more efficient packing of the helicopter. Any questions please direct to me. (Anna)

You can get this through the National ACC office or your own provider. National office number is 1 403 678-3200 or Alpineclubofcanada.ca

If the trip is cancelled by the National Office due to Covid there are 3 choices, all of which have to be enacted as a group.
- Full Refund
- 50% refund and the same week next year is held for those people
- no refund, money is held and if we wanted to switch to a better week through a lottery system then we can do this based on what weeks are available and how many groups got in before any potential shutdown.
The thought on this is that the week we have is one of the best times to go, so likely would not want the third option.
There is no minimum group size, this trip is expected to fill and the section is obligated for this booking.
